A student run Ted Talk was held today. The entire day conference was free of charge – but you needed to apply to attend. Submit a resume and answer a few short questions. About 80 students were in attendance. I was told from previous years that the food would be excellent. Breakfast was served in the atrium – various pastries, granola, yogurt, and fruits. During intermission, assorted vegetables and dip were brought out. For lunch, there were delicious wraps and subs, salads and pasta. Attendees quickly finished the wraps and subs but luckily I managed to take 4. At closing, some desserts were served, assorted brownies and cakes. I didn’t manage to get a picture of it. Overall very excellent event, despite it being a full day event, I learned a lot from guest speakers and workshops. Total time commitment: 6 hours. Estimated Cost: $50 (I am basing this off of similar event pricing and other school’s Tedx Events)
Snapshot of my partially eaten breakfast
This was during intermission, not much people ate the vegetables, and consequently a lot was carried over for lunch.
Just an assortment of delicious sandwiches and subs. At lunch, the organizers created an interesting game. Attendees were randomly seated, and on each seat was a slip of paper containing a riddle. The idea being the riddle is an icebreaker for the table of strangers. Too bad not many people followed the seating arrangement – people elected to sit with their friends, but the riddles provided some degree of entertainment.
Once the sandwiches supply was exhausted, I proceeded to fill up on pasta and salads.
