Job Fair – Inside the Employee and Volunteer Lounge

I was volunteering a huge job fair our school was hosting. Over 100 companies set up booths in our gym, some included Coca-Cola, Bell, Edward Jones, CAT Construction, and many others. Some of the booths offered freebies – some highlights were a shaker cup from Coca-Cola, Nightlight from GreenEnergy, fancy chocolates from IKEA.

I chatted with my supervisor during lunch, and found out it cost over $40,000 to run the fair! All that for a 5-hour event! Between the gym rental, catering, insurance, wi-fi, promotions, set-up and techs. However each company pays $200 – $500, and we obtain lots of sponsors. Turns out, our school actually makes a profit running this event, not bad!

To my great delight, volunteers had full access the employee lounge, where a lunch buffet was served.
