The Indigenous studies organization at McMaster hosted an open house for all students to attend and gain exposure to aboriginal culture. I love attending the indigenous socials – they always put on an interesting play and dance, and the food is always superb. The best thing is, they welcome everyone to attend with open arms.
When we walked in, there was already a performance going on. The hosted warmly ushered us in, and encouraged us to help ourselves to the platefuls of wraps and nachos.
On stage, a guy was singing traditional Mohawk songs and playing guitar. He went on for a good 30min, telling mini stories in between sets.
Overall, it was a pretty decent event. Low barrier to entry and food was excellent.
