Fair Trade Coffee
Supposedly a drop in session for free fair trade coffee and cake, my friend and I decided to stop by and take a gander. The cake was made from black beans, very organic, vegan and fresh tasting. Free fair trade chocolate bars were also available – they actually sold for $2 but were free today.
We sat down to eat our food when the organizer started a PowerPoint presentation. Given the intimate setting and presenter’s zeal, we sat through the entire 30 min speech. It was about fair trade, native spirits and healing powers of chocolate – a load of rubbish in my opinion.
Library Birthday
Via twitter I received updates that free cake was being given out at a library. Reason: the birthday of the donor that helped build said library. Nothing special but free cake is always good.
Engineer Meet the Prof
Another of my friend introduced me to a meet the prof’s night for engineering students. However my last class ended around 5:30pm, when the event was slated to start at 5pm. By the time I had arrived, most of the food was picked dry. Scraps is what is left.
Student Council Free Food
Our student planned a free food fiesta in celebration of our year finishing the last midterm. It was quite well done, lots of people attended and enough food to pass around. Some of the nice girls in the council even baked cookies and cake for everyone.
Pitch Night
Later that evening, a pitch competition for young entrepreneurs was being hosted. Free to attend and appetizers were provided – lots of dessert trays, vegetables and pita with dip. The standard appetizers served.
