I was in another city for the weekend visiting some friends. One of them was attending a student run business event. It was a big event, hundreds of students across the province came down that weekend to a ritzy hotel to present case studies, listen to keynote speakers and indulge in food. The entry ticket was somewhere north of $200. Around dinnertime, my friend urged me to sneak in as an attendee. We swapped clothes: I wore his jacket and an extra shirt. I also wore an empty ID lanyard and tucked it under my jacket, and took the previous day’s meal ticket. Walking through ticket collection and security was a breeze. I tossed my ticket into a pile and strolled right through.
The dinner consisted of a buffet. Lots of the attendees there were busying themselves with photo-ops. I sat down at my friend’s table and ate whilst listening to keynote speakers for the remainder of the night. Before leaving I walked by the buffet line to grab some brownies for home. The workers were beginning to clean up and I found them sitting around eating the leftover food. Better than it going to waste. I took 7 large chocolate brownies home.
Here I am thoroughly enjoying the keynote speaker. As with most of these presentations, it was along the lines of finding success and doing the things you love. Nevertheless it was very entertaining.
I am standing behind the buffet line, after the workers were starting to clean up and eating the leftovers themselves. Needless to say, I blended in perfectly with my friend’s blazer and shirt. The lanyard tucked in is clearly empty, but no one gave me any troubles!
All thanks to my good friend here.
Despite the poor way this shot was framed, the food was excellent. There were chicken stir fry, pasta, pizza and salad for the main, chocolate brownies and pastries for dessert. Pop and bread were also served.
