I was referred to this event from my friend, who told me to apply as a seat filler position. This was something I was unfamiliar with – for televised shows, organizers wanted an illusion of a full audience so designated “seat fillers” would take up empty seats. From 7pm to 7am, the gymnasium is converted to “tent city” as students stayed up all night, engaging in various activities to promote cancer awareness. Around 200 students came to this event, which was comparable to last year. In total, $73,000 was raised.
The Alumni Association graciously organized a pub night for upcoming grad students. Despite being open to all grads (upwards of 1000), only 50 showed up. It was a small gathering of students.
Spectrum and Entrepreneurship Association teamed up for a final event to host Southern Smoke Truck. This was a local food truck operating in Hamilton. The owner brought his truck food: delicious pulled pork and walnut cherry salads for everyone. It was absolutely delicious!
