A few students and their faculty supervisors organized a childhood obesity and diabetes workshop. Many of the attendees were fellow students, or various individuals of healthcare capacities including nurses, dietitians and physicians.
The morning session was all lectures, some of which were quite dry. It basically revolved around obesity stigma, not viewing them as a disability, and the addiction cycle with foods. Lots of studies were discussed, and lots of facts thrown at us.
We broke for lunch, featuring sandwich platters, salad and desserts. It was the usual Paradise catering subs. Nothing to boast about.
I left immediately after lunch. The afternoon was filled with round table discussions and mini workshops, which sounded vastly more interesting than the morning.
