This is a huge annual event our school holds. The lost and found department accumulates goods throughout the year, and hosts a sale to get rid of the stuff and raise money. What is especially great about this is, the sellers don’t care, at all, of the selling prices. I heard students managed to get iPod Touches for $5!
Unfortunately I came 15 min late, the early birds, like vultures, had picked the good stuff clean. I still managed to grab a few items – Betty Crocker can opener, laptop cover, new apple headphones, and Casio watch, in total for only $0.75! The guy didn’t even care how much I was lowballing.
At the same time, a bike auction was also going on. This wasn’t so great. A crowd of students surrounded an overly excited auctioneer. Students were over and outbidding each other on crap bikes. Often, the chains were broken, brakes broken, tires broken and generally in a non-functional condition. Nonetheless, they were going for around $80 – 150. That’s absurd! I got my bike – perfect condition and deliver to me, on Kijiji for only $30.
