Our school’s pre-human resources club hosted an info night. Free food was given and featured 3 guest speakers, all professors at our school. It was a short narrative of their career paths, and how to break into the industry. The speakers all had very diverse backgrounds, humanities, biology and business. Their paths were very non traditional, all of them didn’t realize they wanted to do HR until they were placed in that position. The unusual thing was, every one of they went to business school, one lady even got her degree from Wharton!
Apparently you had to buy membership from the club to attend their meetings. Memberships cost $15 and gave students access to various networking and info nights hosted by the club. I wasn’t a member and had no idea it was required, but thankfully the nice girls at the door waved me in. Perhaps it was because not a lot of people RSVP/showed up at the event, and it looks bad for the speakers to have a low turnout.
